CNN —In true showstopping fashion, Beyoncé announced the release of new music last weekend at the Super Bowl, and proceeded to drop two buzzy country songs that hint at the vibe of her next album. The songs, “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “Sixteen Carriages,” were released by the singer shortly after the Super Bowl Halftime show on Sunday, and were accompanied with eye-popping visualizer videos on YouTube. Beyoncé followed that with the announcement of her eighth solo studio album, “Renaissance Act II,” and to no one’s surprise, the new project caused an incredible response across social media and beyond. They also know that this isn’t the first time Beyoncé has infused a country sound in her songs. Beyoncé’s album “Renaissance Act II” is set for release on March 29.

Under former CEO Bob Chapek's structure, distribution and budgets were taken out of the hands of creative execs. Chapek's 2020 restructuring — which focused the company's firepower on boosting streaming subscriber growth at Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ — meant additional layers of approval for studio and network execs at Disney General Entertainment (DGE) to get projects made. That meant hands were tied across Disney's studios and networks, from Disney+ to 20th Century to Hulu. For creative execs whose careers were built on their ability to balance storytelling and business needs, losing control over the latter was frustrating.

Bob Iger is returning to Disney as CEO, ending the rocky tenure of his successor, Bob Chapek. This person said the board realized its chief executive simply wasn't up to the job after the high-level company executives shared their frustrations. "Bob Iger is one of the top executives of the last decade. Daniel and a handful of other top executives are expected to find out their fate in the next 24 hours, said the senior Disney Insider. "I'm really happy pleased that Bob Iger has accepted this has decided to come back at a critical time for the company," the senior Disney insider said.

Disney , in a shocking late Sunday announcement, said it had re-appointed Iger as chief executive, effective immediately, after Iger's handpicked successor as CEO, Bob Chapek, came under fire for his management of the entertainment giant. Iger will help the company's board develop a new successor, Disney said in a release. Chapek was named chief executive in February 2020, succeeding Iger, who had previously said he wouldn't return to the role. Iger, who held the CEO role for 15 years at Disney, had favored Chapek as his successor. Chapek distanced himself from Iger with a series of decisions, including his new approach to streaming prices for Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+.
